Standard of Transportation of Mongolia:

In Mongolia, individuals and organizations of freight transport services shall follow the following vehicle standards. Vehicles must meet certain specifications and requirements in order to ensure the safety of cargo transportation, follow traffic rules, and minimize negative impact on the environment.

Vehicle standards and freight standards

1. Technical Specifications

1.1. Engine Requirements

  • Engine capacity: Have an engine capacity suitable for the weight, size and road conditions of the load.

  • Noxious emissions: Noxious emissions from the vehicle engine must be in accordance with international and national standards and norms (not less than EURO-4 and EURO-5 levels).

1.2. Braking System

  • Main brake: The main brake system should be suitable for the total weight of the cargo and be in a satisfactory condition.

  • Auxiliary Brake: Regularly check that the auxiliary brake or emergency braking system is working.

  • Air Brakes: Use of air brake systems in heavy duty trucks.

1.3. Lighting System

  • Front and rear lights: Front, rear and signal lights should be in compliance with traffic rules.

  • Cargo lighting: Lighting to highlight the cargo area and make it visible during cargo transportation.

1.4. Steering Mechanism

  • Integrated steering system: The steering mechanism is strong, reliable and responds correctly to changes in direction.

  • Steering Stability: Stability and trouble-free operation of the steering mechanism.

1.5. Axles and Wheels

  • Axle load: The axle of the vehicle must be suitable for the load weight.

  • Tire standards: Use tires suitable for road conditions, choose tires with low wear and standards.

  • Tire pressure: Maintain proper tire pressure.

1.6. Vehicle Oversize

  • Length, width, and height: The total length, width, and height of the vehicle must be in accordance with the norms prescribed by law (for example, in Mongolia, it should not be longer than 16.5 meters, wider than 2.6 meters, and higher than 4 meters).

  • Gross Weight: The total weight of the vehicle, loaded or unloaded, must comply with applicable standards and legal provisions.

2. Safety Specifications

  • Cargo securing: Use of special equipment to secure the cargo to the cargo area and protect the cargo from shifting.

  • Safety covers: Use of safety covers for fragile, complex and dangerous cargo.

2.2. Fuel System

  • Fuel reserve: The fuel tank must be adequate and the fuel reserve must be of the appropriate size for the route of transport.

  • Fuel consumption: The fuel consumption efficiency of the vehicle should meet the standards.

  • Seat belts and airbags: Vehicle seat belts and airbags must meet standard requirements and be undamaged.

  • Visibility: Use mirrors and camera systems to improve visibility.

3. Environmental Standards

3.1. Emission of toxic fumes

  • Euro-compliant: The vehicle must meet EURO-standard (EURO-4, EURO-5, or higher) emissions standards.

  • Filtration system: Have a filter for harmful emissions, regularly check the amount of harmful emissions through technical inspection.

3.2. Noise Standards

  • Noise Limits: Vehicle noise shall not exceed the applicable noise standards.

4. Technical Inspection and Repair Services

4.1. Technical Inspection
